#6 Florida State 9 Maryland 5

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Sixth-ranked Florida State (19-4, 6-3 ACC) completed the weekend series sweep with a 9-5 victory over Maryland (9-15, 2-7 ACC) Sunday afternoon on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. With the win, the Seminoles climbed to within one game of Clemson who sits atop the Atlantic Division in the ACC.

"A good weekend for Florida State baseball," said head coach Mike Martin. "We needed this badly today; this keeps us now only one game back in our division. I was very pleased with the effort from our ball club this afternoon. I though that Hunter Scantling pitched okay. He showed a lot of poise. When you give up a home run on the first pitch of the ball game to keep his composure and shut the other club down for the next four innings you rally have to take your hat off to him. Tyler Everett to me, other than Tyler Holt, was the big part of the ball game. It was just beautiful pitching on his part. You’ve got to rally take your hat off to Tyler Everett."
