FAYETTEVILLE – With a runner on second and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, pinch hitter Tom Hauskey singled to center field to plate the game-winning run in Arkansas’ 4-3 win over Alabama Saturday afternoon at Baum Stadium. The Razorbacks trailed, 3-0, entering their half of the seventh and for the second consecutive day, rallied in the late innings for the victory.
In just his fifth plate appearance of the season, Hauskey secured the Hogs’ fourth consecutive one-run victory with his RBI single. With the score tied, 3-3, Collin Kuhn led off the ninth with a double down the line in left field. After Zack Cox was intentionally walked and Andy Wilkins flew out, head coach Dave Van Horn went to his bench and called on Hauskey in the clutch situation.
#21 South Carolina 2 Auburn 0
Auburn, Ala. – Sam Dyson hurled seven scoreless innings and struck out nine batters and combined with relievers Michael Roth and Matt Price to help South Carolina defeat Auburn 2-0 on Saturday afternoon clinching the weekend series vs. the Tigers. Scott Wingo tallied a game-winning RBI base hit in the eighth inning and Kyle Enders added a RBI single in the ninth as the Gamecocks improved to 19-4 and 5-0 in the SEC. Auburn drops to 16-7 and 3-2 in conference play. The series finale is set for 2 p.m. ET on Sunday. The game can be heard live on the Gamecock Radio Network and at GamecocksOnline.com.
It was a pitcher’s duel as junior right-hander Sam Dyson and junior left-hander Cole Nelson both went back and forth matching zeroes on the scoreboard through the first seven innings. Dyson escaped a couple of jams including a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the third inning with one out. The Gamecock right-hander struck out Brian Fletcher and then coaxed Casey McElroy to fly out to left field ending the Auburn threat. Auburn would also strand a pair of runners in the fourth inning as Dyson was able to get Justin Fradejas to ground out to Scott Wingo preserving the scoreless tie. The Tigers loaded the bases one more time against Carolina in the seventh with Dyson again fanning Fletcher with a strikeout looking keeping the game at 0-0.

Georgia 7 Mississippi State 4
STARKVILLE, MISS. — Georgia snapped a seven-game losing streak by outlasting Mississippi State 7-4 Saturday in front of a crowd of 4,210 at Dudy Noble Field.
Thanks in part to State’s deliberate style of play featuring a parade of hurlers and their proclivity for throws to first base on runners with miniscule leads, not to mention several conferences with the umpiring crew by both head coaches, Saturday’s game lasted three hours and 45 minutes. That tally was just shy of Friday’s contest that went a season-long 3:54. With the win, Georgia improves to 9-14 overall, 1-4 in the SEC.
