GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson junior outfielder Kyle Parker has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Miami junior left-hander Chris Hernandez has been tabbed for the conference’s Pitcher of the Week honor.

Parker went 8-for-17 (.471) with three homers, one double, five RBIs, 10 runs, five walks, a 1.059 slugging percentage, and .591 on-base percentage in five games this past week to lead Clemson to a 4-1 record, including a three-game sweep of Virginia Tech over the weekend.

On the season, Parker is hitting .414 with nine home runs, two doubles, 21 RBIs, 28 runs, three steals and an .829 slugging percentage. The Jacksonville, Fla., native has a .534 on-base percentage in 19 games.

Miami’s Chris HernandezHernandez tossed his first career complete game in Miami’s 3-1 win against Duke Friday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Hernandez allowed one run on just two hits while walking one and striking out six to earn his second win of the season.

The complete game was the first for a Miami pitcher in a true road game in nearly seven years, when J.D. Cockcroft accomplished the feat for the ‘Canes at Virginia on April 11, 2003. The outing also marked the fourth time in his first five starts that Hernandez allowed just one run – including both of his starts to open ACC play. On the year, the Miami native owns a 1.97 ERA, allowing just seven earned runs while striking out 33 in 32 innings of work.
