The junior’s best game came on Friday in Illinois’ 11-10 win over No. 10 Coastal Carolina. He went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, scoring three runs and driving in two, also picking up a stolen base. Johnson earns Player of the Week honors after batting .467 and slugging 1.267 for the Hoosiers last week. The freshman tallied multi-hit games in each of Indiana’s three contests, combining to score five runs and drive in eight on the strength of four home runs. Johnson belted two homers on Tuesday against No. 11 Louisville, before going yard once against Miami (Ohio) on Saturday and again versus Central Michigan on Sunday. The third baseman tallied at least one run and at least one RBI in all three games last week. The weekly honor is the first of the year for the Hoosiers and the first to be won by a freshman this year.
