The College Baseball Blog is proud to announce our Players of the Week for March 2nd. Brian Fletcher from Auburn is our Player of the Week while Jason Mitchell from UT-Arlington and Greg Peavey from Oregon State are our Co-Pitchers of the Week.
Brian Fletcher had a strong week hitting at a .636 clip with a 1.545 slugging percentage including 11 RBI in the Auburn Classic. He collected three home runs, including a walk-off solo homer in the 10th to beat Boston College on Friday night.
Jason Mitchell of UT-Arlington is honored this week as our Co-Pitcher of the Week after pitching nine shutout innings against Missouri State on Feb.26th as the Mavericks grabbed a 1-0 victory in 14 innings. Mitchell only allowed two baserunners as he walked one batter and carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning before allowing a hit. He broke the school record by striking out 18 Missouri State batters.
Greg Peavey also picks up honors this week by pitching a complete game shutout against Tennessee on Sunday by allowing three hits and only one walk. Peavey struck out nine batters while only throwing 108 pitches.
