Stephen F. Austin 7 Texas A&M 6
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Stephen F. Austin scored all seven of its runs with two outs in the third inning and held on for a 7-6 win over Texas A&M Wednesday afternoon before 2,492 fans at Olsen Field.
"This was disappointing, and that’s an understatement," A&M coach Rob Childress said. "We got two there in the second and built a lead, and you figure that it’s not going to be a high-scoring day with the weather the way it was. Then we go right back out in the third, we’re not able to finish the inning and they score all seven runs with two outs. We have to have a short memory, come out tomorrow, get better and look forward to this weekend."
The Aggies (3-1) had a golden chance to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, as pitcher John Stilson led off with a triple into the right field corner, but SFA pitcher Jason West got the next three batters in order to lock down the Lumberjacks’ first win in College Station.
A&M got the scoring started with a pair of runs in the second off SFA starter Brett Rogers.
