PhilGosselinUVA Phil Gosselin is set to take over the leadoff spot for the Virginia Cavaliers this upcoming weekend against East Carolina as Brian O’Connor has decided to move Jarrett Parker to the middle of the order. Coach O’Connor stated the following to Jay Jenkins of The Daily Progress:

“I am looking at leading Phil Gosselin off and maybe hitting Jarrett Parker somewhere in the middle of the order,Regardless of where they hit in the lineup, it is exciting. Even your guys that hit No. 6 through No. 9 in the lineup can really hit and play.”

O’Connor will also use junior college transfer Cody Winiarski as the number three starter as Tyler Wilson will start in the bullpen for the Cavaliers.

One more note, the Cavs will leave one day early to head down to East Carolina to get an extra day of work outdoors before opening the season on Friday in one of the most anticipated series of the weekend.
