NewOSUUniforms CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State baseball team unveiled its set of uniforms for the 2010 season on Tuesday on the third floor of the Valley Football Center.

Oregon State players Carter Bell, Jared Norris, Rob Folsom, John Tommasini and Sam Gaviglio met an Oregon State photographer and reporters from The Oregonian, Corvallis Gazette-Times, Official Sports Report, KMTR, KEZI and KVAL to unveil the new set, which includes four new jerseys and a holdover from last season. This is also the first season the Beavers will wear an entire set of Nike uniforms while the team will also play with Nike equipment.

“I love them. They’re great,” Norris said. “Having all Nike uniforms is awesome. It’s great going head-to-toe with everything Nike, and the colors are awesome and the ideas for the uniforms are outstanding.”

Norris wore a orange v-neck uniform emblazoned with the word “Beavers” in block letters – the same script as other Oregon State athletic uniforms – on the front. Like Bell, his pants were white with orange and black piping. Norris’ top also has orange, white and black piping on the sleeves. Bell’s, meanwhile, mirrored his pants with orange and black piping on the sleeves as he displayed the traditional white uniform.

“I think Nike did a really great job,” Bell said. “They’re really consistent with the font and everything, and the piping on the sleeves and pants looks really cool.”
Like Norris, each of the Beavers had nothing but good things to say about their new uniforms. Folsom was decked out in a new crème jersey, with the word “Beavers” in black on the front. Like the white and gray uniforms, there are no names on the back, just a number.

“I like the uniforms because they’re classy and I think that is a benefit to our team,” he said. “I think it resembles the mentality we have this year. Less is more. I like the bordering on the white pants and the orange tops. I think it looks classy, a little old school.”

Gaviglio, who wore a gray uniform with “Oregon State” on the front in addition to a number – and a simple black line on the side of his pants – may have said it even more succinctly.

“I think they look great,” he said. “You want to look nice when you’re playing. When you look good, you play good.”

Last, but certainly not least, was Tommasini, who modeled a jersey that will return to the Beavers for the third straight season. It’s a gray pinstripe uniform with “Beavers” on the front.

Fans who attend practice will have the chance to catch the Beavers in action in some of the new uniforms. Oregon State is wearing the new uniforms on various days to get them ready for the upcoming season.
