Texas State extends Ty Harrington’s Contract

TyHarringtonTxState San Marcos, Texas- – Texas State athletic director Larry Teis announced that the contract for head baseball coach Ty Harrington has been extended for three more seasons.

"Ty has proven he is committed to winning both on and off the field," Teis said. "In today’s environment, the NCAA has made academic achievement a top priority, and Ty has bought into this philosophy. He is a great ambassador for Texas State."

 

Harrington will begin his 11th season with the Texas State baseball team. In 2009, the Bobcats made their fourth NCAA Regional Tournament appearance and captured the program’s first-ever Southland Conference Championship Title. In addition, Paul Goldschmidt was named a Third-Team All-American, the Southland Conference Player of the Year and the SLC Student-Athlete of the Year. Kane Holbrooks also was named a Second-Team All-American and the SLC Pitcher of the Year. Tyler Sibley enters the 2010 season as a preseason All-American after being named a Freshman All-American in 2009.

Texas State baseball will begin their 2010 season Feb.19 at Houston. The Bobcats open their home slate Mar. 3 against Rice.
