ULM Baseball Donates Blood to LifeShare Blood Center

ULMBloodDonation MONROE, La.-The ULM baseball team continued its commitment to give back to the community as the Warhawks visited the LifeShare Blood Center in Monroe on Wednesday.

The losing team of the annual Maroon & Gold Fall Series – now in its sixth year – donates blood, leading to series being dubbed the "Blood Series."

"We are excited to give something back to the community," head coach Jeff Schexnaider said.  "One day usually gives them their quota for the month. This is a great way to end the fall workouts and bring in the holidays with their first gift."

The Gold Team won the series behind strong hitting performances from Kelvin York (.706 BA, 12 RBIs) and Caleb Clowers (.500 BA).  Josh Miller, Stefan Comeaux, Jordy Poche and Wil Browning all had solid appearances on the mound for the Gold squad as the won the best-of-five series 4-1.

The Warhawks open the 2010 season with a three-game series at Ole Miss on Feb. 19-21. They open the home portion of the schedule with a three-game series against Mississippi Valley State on Mar. 5-7.
