HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team visited the Cabell Huntington Hospital on Wednesday, Nov. 18 as an outreach to the community.
The MU players and coaching staff visited numerous children at the hospital that were fighting against various illnesses. The team handed out autographed baseballs in hopes to brighten the children’s days.
"Going to the hospital and spending time with the children puts baseball in perspective," head coachJeff Waggoner said. "The challenges we face on the field are nothing in comparison to the challenges these children face every day."
Student-athletes from the baseball team coordinate team projects throughout the community by taking responsibility to serve as goodwill ambassadors, not only for their respective program, but also for the Athletics Department and Marshall University as a whole.
The MU baseball team opens its season against Samford on Feb. 19 in Birmingham, Ala.

That’s a really nice thing to do. Makes me remember of my days working in the college baseball arena…
