UNOPhoto NEW ORLEANS – Scott Biesecker has been named associate head baseball coach at the University of New Orleans, it was announced on Friday.

It was a familiar hire for UNO head coach Bruce Peddie, who worked with Biesecker for nine years while Peddie was the head coach at Division II Shippensburg.

Biesecker was the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator for Peddie from 1998 through 2006, and Biesecker will have the same responsibilities on the Lakefront.

"Scott just has a tremendous work ethic and a great rapport with his players," Peddie said. "I’ve been around a lot of coaches, and nobody can work with outfielders like him."

Biesecker coached two Division II All-Americans at Shippensburg and had 14 players drafted or signed into professional baseball. He comes to UNO after serving as an assistant coach at Mount St. Mary’s in 2009.

Prior to Mount St. Mary’s, Biesecker spent two years at Waynesboro High School (Pa.), where he was an assistant coach on the baseball team while also teaching history.

He played collegiately at Penn State, where he graduated in 1991, and was the team captain as a senior.

Biesecker and his wife, Dawn, have a daughter, Megan, and a son, Kurt.
