The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 79 in our countdown with Coastal Carolina infielder/outfielder Scott Woodward. He is from Markle Indiana and attended Norwell High School where he led the team to a state championship as a senior. He finished his senior season with a .454 average including 60 runs, seven doubles, 24 runs-batted-in and 30 stolen bases. He was also outstanding on the mound going a perfect 8-0 with a 1.93 ERA. He was named First-Team All-Indiana selection as well as an All-Conference and an All-Area performer. He was also named to the Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason Central Region All-High School Senior Team.
Scott made an immediate impact at Coastal Carolina starting in all 64 games during his freshman campaign in 2008. He finished second on the team with a .364 average with seven homers and 45 RBI. He was a terror on the basepaths swiping 42 bases in 51 attempts. He was named to multiple Freshman All-American teams by Baseball America, Rivals.com and Louisville Slugger. He spent the summer with the USA National Team where he appeared in 11 games (9 starts) while 
hitting .226 with two homers and five RBI. He also grabbed two bases in three attempts.
Woodward had a little bit of a sophomore slump in 2009 as he appeared in 41 games (40 starts) including missing a month of the season with a broken finger. He finished the campaign with a .284 average, one homer and 19 RBI. He continued to be a contributor on the basepaths as he stole 30 bases in 33 attempts. He played the summer of 2009 in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Bourne Braves. He batted .246 with a homer and four RBI in 41 games but drew 29 walks as he had an on base percentage of .407. He continued his great base stealing as he stole 28 bases in 32 attempts against some of the best college catchers in the country.
We believe that Woodward will get back on pace with his 2008 season which saw him being one of the best players in the Big South Conference as his finger injured affected him during the 2009 season.
