Georgia infielder Chance Veazey was injured in a motor vehicle crash on Wednesday night after leaving the Rankin Smith Student-Athlete Academic Center. According to a press release from Georgia Sports Information, he suffered a back injury and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital. (Press Release). If Veazey misses any time during the 2010 season, it will hurt the Georgia program as he was expected to compete for a starting spot in the lineup.
This situation isn’t looking good with the language in the press release. Lets hope that Veazey can fully recover and live a successful life off the field before worrying about baseball.
This is the second time in October that a Bulldog infielder has been in the news as Levi Hyams was arrested on October 10th for underage possession of alcohol, giving false information, and possession of a fraudulent ID. Hyams is facing at least a five game suspension due to the Georgia Athletic Department conduct policy. (FULL STORY)
