The CBB continues our countdown for the 2010 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the list today with number 94 in our countdown with Auburn junior DH/Infielder Kevin Patterson. He is 6’4 233 pounds out of Oak Mountain High School and from Birmingham, Alabama. He had a career average in high school of .392 with 25 homers and 107 RBI. He was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 24th round in the 2007 MLB Draft but decided to become a member of the Auburn Tiger baseball squad.
In his freshman campaign in 2008, Patterson was able to immediate playing time as he saw action in 51 games (44 starts) while compiling a .255 average with 26 RBI. He had a strong slugging percentage of .433 as he hit nine doubles, two triples, and five homers. He played the summer of 2008 with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League where he hit a respectable .296 with 27 RBI and was named an All-Star in the CCBL. (FULL RECAP).
Patterson struggled last season as he hit .231 in 46 games including 31 starts. He finished the season with a slugging percentage .418 as he hit six homers with 18 RBI. He spent the summer of 2009 with the Cotuit Kettleers for the second straight summer as he hit .244 with four homers and 11 RBI in 30 games.
