Head coach Bill Brown has released the 2010 George Mason baseball schedule. The Patriots will play thirty one home games at Spuhler Field this season, including twelve CAA contests.
George Mason will begin the season in Rock Hill, South Carolina, as they play a double round robin tournament with Northwestern and Winthrop (Feb. 19-21). The following weekend the Patriots will have their home opener, as they host Monmouth (Feb. 26-28) for a three game set.
During the month of March, the Patriots will then play seventeen of their twenty games at home. The team will have three mid-week road contests against Richmond (March 2), Radford (March 10), and Liberty (March 30) to go along with home mid-week contests with UMBC (March 3), Longwood (March 16), Georgetown (March 17), Richmond (March 23), and George Washington (March 24). The Patriots will also have weekend sets at Spuhler field with Fordham (March 5-7), CCSU (March 12-14), Duquesne (March 19-21), and conference foe James Madison (March 26-28).
George Mason will also have home CAA series against Old Dominion (April 9-11), Delaware (April 23-25), and VCU (May 14-16). The Patriots hit the road for conference play at UNC-Wilmington (April 2-4), Northeastern (April 16-18), Georgia State (April 30-May 2), and Towson (May 21-23). The CAA Tournament (May 27-29) will be held in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Other notable non-conference games include road mid-week games at Virginia (April 21) and Georgetown (May 18) as well as a home-and-home with Maryland (April 6 & 27).
The Longwood Lancers will have thirty six home contests in 2010. The team will begin the season with a nine game homestand with games against Coppin State (Feb. 19-21), William and Mary (Feb. 23), and Binghamton (Feb. 26-28). The team will then hit the road for mid-week games against North Carolina Central (March 2) and James Madison (March 3) before returning home for two four-game sets against Niagara (March 6-7) and Marist (March 12-14).
The Lancers will also have home weekend series against Rider (March 19-21), Le Moyne (March 27-28), and UMBC (April 3) to go along with road series at Le Moyne (April 10-11), Campbell (May 7-8), Norfolk State (May 15-16), and Saint Peter’s (May 20-21). Notable mid-week contests on the Longwood schedule include road games at Virginia Tech (March 23) as well as home-and-home contests with George Mason (March 16 & April 13), Old Dominion (March 30 & May 12), and Richmond (May 4 & 5).
