ArkansasEibner FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas baseball team began practices two weeks ago and after fighting wet weather in Northwest Arkansas is back on the field Wednesday as they release their 2010 schedule.

The Razorbacks are slated to play 35 of their 56 games at Baum Stadium this season with the opener scheduled for Friday, Feb. 19, against Ball State.  Also on the agenda is a stop at Dickey-Stephens Park in mid-May for the Razorbacks’ first game at the home of the Arkansas Travelers.

Arkansas opens the season with eight consecutive home games and play 13 of their first 16 contests at Baum Stadium.  On the schedule for 2010 are NCAA Tournament teams Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and NCAA Champion LSU with five of those series being played in Fayetteville.

Following Arkansas’ opening run at Baum Stadium, the Hogs hit the road for a week during spring break with their Southeastern Conference opener, a rematch of the 2009 College World Series, in Baton Rouge, La., with the LSU Tigers and road games at McNeese St.  The Razorbacks’ SEC home opener comes in the form of Alabama in late March which kicks off Arkansas’ longest home stand of the year.  Other SEC home games this season include Kentucky, April 2-4, Georgia, April 16-18, Auburn, April 30-May 2, and South Carolina, May 14-15.

The toughest part of Arkansas’ schedule comes at the end of the season with 10 of its final 11 games coming against NCAA Tournament participants and eight of the final 11 contests on the road.  Beginning on May 7 the Razorbacks travel to Oxford, Miss., to take on the Ole Miss Rebels and on the way home make a stop in Little Rock, Ark., to play Louisiana Tech at Dickey Stevens Park on May 11.  The Razorbacks return to Baum Stadium for a three-game set with South Carolina, May 14-16, before traveling to the start site of their 2009 postseason run and a rematch with the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Okla., May 18.  The Hogs end the regular season with road games at Vanderbilt, May 20-22.
