AaronRembert ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Head Baseball Coach Tom Smith has announced the hiring of former Bulldog pitcher Aaron Rembert as an assistant coach upon approval of the Board of Trustees. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.

Rembert has served as the top assistant coach at nearby Mars Hill College for the past four years. He was one of the best pitchers to ever pitch at UNC Asheville as he was a member of the Bulldog program from 2000-2004.

"I’m very pleased to have Aaron Rembert join our staff," exclaimed Smith. "Aaron enjoyed a great career at UNC Asheville and did a marvelous job coaching at Mars Hill. He comes highly recommended from various people in college baseball. We’re glad Aaron has come home."

Rembert was both a starter and reliever during his time at Asheville. He is the school’s all-time leader in wins with 24 and third in appearances with 86. In his freshman year, he went 9-5 and the nine wins is the second most in school history for a season. Rembert was named as a Freshman All-American following the 2000 season for his work on the mound.

"I’m really excited to be back at UNC Asheville," stated Rembert. "I appreciate the four years I had at Mars Hill where I learned a lot about coaching college baseball.

"This is a great opportunity to be back at my alma mater and work for a coach like Tom Smith," added Rembert. "We have a lot of work to do but I’m looking forward to getting started."
