Hinojosa used the week to demonstrate his prowess both at the plate and on the mound. He batted .333 with two home runs, vaulting himself into a tie for the league lead in homers. The two-way star also picked up a pair of saves as the Bombers’ closer, grabbing a share of the TCL lead in that category as well. The sophomore starred at Texarkana College last spring and will be headed to Texas A&M in the fall.

Matt Juengel, East Texas Pump Jacks
The first two-time Player of the Week this season, Juengel caught fire again last week, batting .533 with a whopping .800 slugging percentage. He accounted for ten runs in only four games, scoring seven times and driving in three. His homer on July 31 was his fourth of the season and returned him to the TCL lead in round-trippers. A freshman from Panola College, Juengel will be joining Hinojosa at Texas A&M next season.

Pitcher of the Week

Rett Varner, Coppell Copperheads
Varner becomes the first two-time Pitcher of the Week this year and the second consecutive Copperhead to earn the award. The righthander tossed a gem against Brazos Valley in the nightcap of a July 29 doubleheader, pitching a two-hit complete-game shutout. He allowed only two hits and one walk while striking out seven. With the win, the sophomore from Texas-Arlington improved his league-leading ERA to 0.92.
