As the 2010 campaign begins for the Cougars, the team will look to improve on their 15-39 mark from the 2009 season. SIUE had a 3-3 record at home last season, so head coach Gary Collins hopes the 17 home games next season translates to more victories for his team.
The Cougars open the season with a three game set at Arkansas-Little Rock (February 26-28) before having the home opener at the friendly confines of SimmonsCooper Complex when they take on Saint Louis (March 3).
SIUE will then take on Dayton, Milwaukee, and Austin Peay in the Austin Peay Tournament (March 5-7).
The road trip continues with a set of mid-week games at Western Carolina (March 9-10) and a weekend two game set at East Tennessee State (March 12-13). The Cougars then return home to welcome North Dakota for two mid-week games (March 16-17) before hitting the road for a season long seven game road trip. While away from SimmonsCooper Complex, the Cougars will battle Evansville (March 19-21), Tennessee Tech (March 26-28), and Saint Louis (March 31).
SIUE then welcomes Morehead State to Edwardsville for a weekend series (April 2-4) before travelling to Columbia to take on the Missouri Tigers in a mid-week clash (April 7). The Cougars then have seven straight at home as UT Martin (April 9-11), Saint Louis (April 14), and Murray State (April 16-18) flock to SimmonsCooper Complex. SIUE then makes a quick trip to Missouri State for a mid-week game (April 21) before returning home for a weekend set against Austin Peay (April 23-25).
Next on the schedule for the Cougars is a pair of road mid-week games, one against Indiana State (April 27) and the other against Saint Louis (April 28). SIUE then takes a week off before travelling to Southeast Missouri State for a weekend series (May 7-9). The Cougars then have their last home game of the season when Indiana State visits Edwardsville for a mid-week game (May 11).
A six game road trip rounds out the schedule for SIUE, as they venture to Eastern Illinois (May 14-16) and Eastern Kentucky (May 21-23) for a pair of weekend sets.
