I personally have been a huge fan of Mainieri since 1998 when I attended the Big East conference tournament in Norwich Connecticut. You could always tell that Mainieri was destined to become a coach at one of the major powers in the coming years and finally got the chance at LSU. Yes, he made the College World Series at Notre Dame but to be the coach at such a baseball powerhouse like LSU was too good to pass up. You can check out an article from Glenn Guilbeau in The Shreveport Times that can be read by clicking here as it discusses the path Coach Mainieri has taken over the past few years.
