OMAHA, Neb. — Sophomore right-hander Austin Ross will start game 2 of the College World Series championship final against Texas, LSU head coach Paul Mainieri announced Tuesday morning. LSU leads the best-of-three series, 1-0, after a dramatic 7-6 win in 11 innings on Monday.

Ross, LSU’s No. 3 starter during the regular season, allowed one run on two hits in two innings of relief against Virginia in the opening game of the CWS.

In 2009, Ross is 6-7 with a 5.09 ERA in 18 appearance including 16 starts. He’s thrown 81.1 innings and struckout 76 with only 21 walks.

After Monday’s game, Texas head coach Augie Gurrido announced righty Taylor Jungmann will take the mound. Jungmann entered in relief in game 1 of the championship series but threw only six pitches (all balls).
