Kendall Rogers of Rivals.com/Yahoo Sports is reporting that Wake Forest has agreed to terms with New Orleans head coach Tom Walter. He has spent the last five seasons with the Privateers accumulating a less then stellar 153-147 record at the school. This record is deceptive as UNO had to face the Hurricane Katrina disaster which took the members of the squad’s minds off the field for the entire season. This past season saw UNO only go 22-33 which is less then impressive but made back to back regionals in the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Walter came to UNO after a successful run at George Washington where he spent eight years accumulating a 275-184 record.
I think this is a decent hire for the Demon Deacons as Walter is an excellent coach but the recruiting and talent level at Wake Forest must rise if they expect to compete for an ACC title year in and year out.
