The College Baseball Blog breaks down the top players in the College World Series who need to be watched on each squad. If these players have a big week, then their respective teams will be in excellent shape to walk away with a National Championship.
Cal-State Fullerton
OF Josh Fellhauer- leads the team with a .399 average and has 18 stolen bases.
1B Jared Clark- hitting .363 with 12 homers and 81 RBI.
SS Christian Colon- one of the top defensive shortstops in College Baseball. He is also hitting .352 with 14 stolen bases.
SP RHP Daniel Renken- top starting pitcher with a record of 11-2 with an ERA of 2.36.
SP RHP Tyler Pill- freshman with a record of 11-3 with a 3.95 ERA.
SP Noe Ramirez- the freshman is expected to start the opener for the Titans. He is currently 9-1 with a 2.86 ERA.
Arkansas
LHP Dallas Kuechel- is the best starting pitcher for the Razorbacks with a 7-3 record while having a 4.04 ERA.
OF/SP RHP Brett Eibner- two way player who is 5-4 with a 4.61 ERA while hitting .224 with ten homers.
LSU
1B Blake Dean- is considered one of the top power hitters in the country. He has a .333 average with 15 homers and 65 RBI.
OF Jared Mitchell- first round pick of the Chicago White Sox in this past week’s MLB Draft. He is hitting .325 with nine homers and 43 RBI. He has also stolen 35 bases on the year.
SS/2B D.J. LeMahieu- currently leads the team in hitting with a .340 average. He was moved to second base about mid-way through the season.
SP RHP Anthony Renaudo- 10-3 with a 2.95 ERA.
SP RHP Louis Coleman- 13-2 with a 2.76 ERA. He has been the ace of the staff throughout the year.
Closer RHP Matty Olt- 3-2 including 16 saves with a 2.17 ERA in 34 appearances.
Virginia
CF Jarrett Parker- second on the squad with a .364 average with a team high 16 homers and 16 RBI. Also has 19 stolen bases on the year.
SS Tyler Cannon- a solid defensive player who is hitting .339 with 17 stolen bases.
1B/LHP Danny Hultzen- 9-1 with a 2.09 ERA. Also hitting .333 with three homers with 33 RBI.
RHP Robert Morey- 3-0 with a 3.11 ERA.
Andrew Carraway- 8-1 with a 4.13 ERA.
