OXFORD, Miss. — It was a night for heroics as sophomore left-hander Drew Pomeranz pitched a complete-game with a career-high 16 strikeouts to tie the school’s single game record as No. 9 Ole Miss (43-18) defeated Western Kentucky (42-20) by a score of 4-1 on Monday to advance to an NCAA Super Regional in the NCAA Tournament.

Ole Miss will now host Virginia in the Oxford Super Regional with a best-of-three series beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field The game will be televised by ESPN2. It marks the fourth time in the last five years the Rebels have advanced to the Super Regionals as Ole Miss also advanced in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
