In the second day of action at the Austin (Tx) Regional, the elimination game featured a matchup between Army from the Patriot League and Texas State of the Southland Conference. Army lost their opening game to Texas 3-1 and Texas State wasted a 3 run ninth inning lead to lose to Boston College 8-7.

On the mound for Army was Sophomore Ben Koenigsfeld, while Texas State countered with Brian Borski. Both pitchers battled on the mound, while Texas State was able to get to Koenigsfeld for single runs in 1st, 3rd, 6th and 7th to take a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the 8th inning. Army would score five runs in the bottom of the eighth to grab a 7-5 lead. Army would send the Bobcats down in only four hitters to give the Black Knights the win. This was the second straight day that Texas State blew the lead late in a game and allowed the opponent to grab the win. With the loss Texas State ends its season with a 41-17 record and Army advances in the Loser’s bracket to face the loser between Boston College and Texas tomorrow at noon.
