MAC East Division Player of the Week
Brandon Besl, Ohio, 3B
Senior, Cincinnati, Ohio (Oak Hills)

In the three-game series at Miami over the weekend, Besl went 10-for-15 with two doubles, four home runs, six RBIs and eight runs scored. He tallied his first multi-homer game of the year Friday (and second of his career) with two round-trippers, while collecting at least three hits and a homer in every game at Miami. Besl tallied two multi-RBI games at Miami and scored at least two runs each game over the weekend. For the week, the senior totaled 27 bases and had an on-base percentage of .583. He had just six homers entering the week, but finished the week with 10 on the year. Besl also extended his hitting streak to a career-long 15 games with at least one hit in all five games this week. The Bobcats took two of three at Miami over the weekend, the third straight year Ohio’s won the series with the RedHawks. In doing so, the ‘Cats assured themselves of their second straight appearance in the MAC Tournament and 11th all time. Ohio tallied a season-high 19 runs and 23 hits in its win Saturday at Miami. Junior Marc Krauss broke Ohio’s single-season home runs record with his 21st blast Sunday at Miami, while senior Brandon Besl is now riding a career-long 15-game hitting streak. The Bobcats host Cincinnati Tuesday, May 12, before closing out MAC play with Buffalo at home.

MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week
Benjamin Danziger, Akron, Sophomore
Cleveland Heights, Ohio (Cleveland Heights)

Danziger was outstanding in the Zips rubber match victory over No. 26 Kent State on Sunday. Danziger went seven innings and a third, allowing just three earned runs on seven scattered hits with a pair of walks while tallying a career-high nine strikeouts on the day. Danziger held the typically hot Kent offense which had been hitting .321 heading into the series finale, to a low .250 batting average. Following his nine-K day against Kent State, Danziger now leads the Zips with 55 strikeouts on the year.

MAC West Division Player of the Week
Jim Gulliver, Eastern Michigan, Shortstop
Junior, Allen Park, Mich. (Allen Park)

Gulliver had a solid week for the Eagles last week, going 8-for-14 (.571) in five games with three home runs, nine runs scored, seven RBI and two stolen bases. Gulliver helped the Eagles take two out of three on the road at Toledo, May 8-10, including a 4-for-5 performance in game one with two homers, three runs scored and three RBI.

MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week
Brenden Stines, Ball State, Senior
Granger, Ind. (Penn)

Stines helped the Cardinals to a series sweep of MAC foe Northern Illinois as he was dominant in seven innings Saturday afternoon as he only allowed three hits and did not allow an earned run. Stines struck out a season-high 11 batters on the afternoon to pick up his third win of the season. He held the Huskies to just a .125 batting average in the Cardinals’ 9-1 victory.
