(Victoria, TX) The upstart Victoria Generals of The Texas Collegiate League have announced that two players from Lamar University have agreed to play for Head Coach Chris Clemons beginning in June.

Blake Ford, a 6’5″ righthander will fill a couple of roles for the Generals. Lamar’s Assistant Jim Ricklefsen said that, “We use him out of the bullpen as well as a spot starter. He has a very good curveball and the sky’s the limit with his talent. He has a bright future for us here at Lamar.”

Ford’s hometown is Lufkin, Tx.

Joining Ford will be team mate Garret Steward. The sophomore pitcher throws right handed and stands 6-2. “Garret has a plus breaking ball and his fastball is in the upper 80’s. He’s been really good for us,” said Ricklefsen. He concluded stating, “both will really help the Generals this summer.”

Steward hails from LaPorte, Tx.
