CLINTON, MS – The championship round of the 2009 American Southwest Conference Baseball Championship Tournament Series will be held Friday-Sunday (May 1-3) at Frierson Field on the campus of Mississippi College.
Playing for the conference championship and a berth into the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship along with host Mississippi College (28-14) will be nationally-ranked Texas-Tyler (34-9), Texas Lutheran (30-12) and Texas-Dallas (27-16).

To advance to the double elimination tournament, the four squads had to win best-of-three series last weekend. Mississippi College swept Mary Hardin-Baylor, Texas-Tyler outlasted McMurry in three games, Texas Lutheran swept Ozarks and Texas-Dallas prevailed in Game 3 against Hardin-Simmons. UTD is the only team that won a road series.
MC will be going for its first ASC title since 2003 and TLU will be aiming for a fourth overall crown. The Bulldogs won three straight titles from 2005-2007. Texas-Tyler and Texas-Dallas are eyeing their first conference title. Texas-Tyler is in its second season eligible for postseason play after serving as a NCAA provisional member for four seasons. UTD has been the runner-up three times (2003-2004, 2006).
NOTES: The hosting rights for the Championship Round rotate each year between each division’s top remaining seed. . . . .Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $3 for students; each ticket is a day-pass and will provide admission to all games on that day only. Tournament passes will be available for $12. . . . There will be a limited amount of tournament T-shirts($20) and souvenir programs ($2) available.
