PHILADELPHIA (4/28/09) – Penn freshman shortstop Derek Vigoa (Miami, FL / Christopher Columbus) and Temple junior righthander Mike Click (Media, PA / Penncrest) have been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in voting conducted by the head coaches and sports information offices.

Vigoa batted .565 (13-for-23) with five doubles and nine RBI in six games last week for the Quakers. He hit a three-run double in the eighth on Sunday against Columbia to cap a 10-rally inning and give Penn a 12-9 lead. The rookie also set a Penn freshman record with 18 doubles.

Click struck out seven in seven innings of relief in beating Villanova, 15-6, on Tuesday. He allowed one earned run and scattered six hits. He also pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief on Saturday and Sunday versus Xavier to finish the week with a 1.04 ERA.
