MINNEAPOLIS – The D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 poll was released Tuesday and Salisbury University dropped to No. 4 after the Sea Gulls spent the past two weeks at No. 2. The Sea Gulls (34-6) collected 518 total points.
University of Southern Maine (31-4) remains the top-ranked team for the second consecutive week. The Huskies received six first-place votes and 592 total points. Pomona-Pitzer College (33-4) moved from No. 3 to No. 2 as the Sagehens collected 10 first-place votes and 576 points. The College of St. Scholastic (29-2) moved up from No. 4 to No. 3 as it received eight first-place votes and 567 points. Trinity (Conn.) College (22-4), the defending national champions, rounds out the top five as they garnered 507 points and sit at No. 5. Eastern Connecticut State University (28-6) received one-first place vote and 483 points as the Warriors are ranked seventh.
This is the second poll the Gulls are ranked No. 4 in as they are ranked fourth by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball poll.
SU will continue non-conference play this week as the Sea Gulls hit the road for some key in-state contests. Salisbury will take on Johns Hopkins University (22-13) this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Tomorrow SU will travel to Chestertown, Md., to face Washington (Md.) College (16-17) at 3 p.m.
