CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Mark Fleury and Levi Michael hit late-inning home runs, and No. 1 North Carolina’s bullpen delivered eight strong innings of relief in a 4-2 win over Maryland Sunday to close out a three-game sweep at Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels (35-11, 16-7 ACC) have won six straight in conference play and eight of nine overall heading into an eight-day break for final exams.
Sunday’s win was the 200th for Carolina’s three-man senior class of Garrett Gore, Mike McKee and Adam Warren, who were honored in pregame Senior Day festivities.
Michael, who had six hits over the final two games of the series, was 2-for-4 with three RBI on a run-scoring double in the fifth and a two-run go-ahead home run in the seventh. Fleury went 2-for-4 with a double in the fourth and a game-tying solo homer in the sixth for his third straight multi-hit game and fourth this week.
Clemson 6 Georgia Tech 3
Clemson, SC – Four Tiger pitchers combined to limit the Yellow Jackets to three runs as #20 Clemson topped #4 Georgia Tech 6-3 in front of 5,164 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers, who won the series 2-1, improved to 30-15 overall and 14-10 in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets fell to 28-11-1 overall and 14-7-1 in ACC play.
The win was Jack Leggett’s 300th against an ACC team as Clemson’s head coach. It was also Clemson’s 100th all-time victory over Georgia Tech, as the Tigers improved their all-time record against the Yellow Jackets to 100-97-3 with Sunday’s win.
After Georgia Tech scored two runs in the top of the first inning, Clemson responded with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and never relinquished its lead. The Tigers added two runs in the third inning and both teams scored a run in the fifth inning to round out the scoring.
Florida State 14 Wake Forest 10
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (30-12, 15-7 ACC) won for the ninth straight time completing the sweep of Wake Forest (20-23, 6-18 ACC) with a 14-10 victory Sunday afternoon on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. The series sweep was the third of the season for the Seminoles and the second in as many weeks after taking all three games from NC State in Raleigh last weekend.
FSU ran out to a 9-0 lead on Sunday before the Deacs made things interesting in the late innings scoring all 10 runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.
“That was a great weekend,” said head coach Mike Martin. “It was a big weekend for all of us. It was one that we truly needed. We are not depending on any body else in the league. We know we got to do it ourselves. This was a very satisfying weekend even though we gave up a lot of runs in the seventh and eighth innings. It was still a ball game that we persevered. I was very pleased with the fact that we bounced back and scored a couple after they scored six in the eighth. By doing that, we were able to keep the momentum swinging in our favor.”
Miami (FL) 11 Virginia Tech 3
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Iden Nazario struck out seven in five innings of work to win his fifth game and Kyle Bellamy recorded his eighth multi-inning save of the year as No. 11 Miami beat Virginia Tech, 11-3, Sunday afternoon at Alex Rodriguez Park.
The win secured Miami’s (29-14, 13-11) fifth Atlantic Coast Conference series win of the season as well as its fifth straight over Virginia Tech (25-17, 10-13) since the two teams joined the ACC.
After scoring three runs in the second and three more in the fifth, the Hurricanes took a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh before a five-run inning for the `Canes put the game out of reach.

Boston College 7 Duke 6 (11 innings)
DURHAM, N.C. – Junior Robbie Anston brought home the game-winning run in the top of the 11th inning and classmate Mike Belfiore pitched 5.0 innings to pick up the win as the Boston College baseball team won the series finale at Duke, 7-6, on Sunday afternoon at Jack Coombs Field.
Duke had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th against Belfiore but couldn’t cash in a walk-off run. Brian Litwin sliced a double into the gap in right to leadoff the frame and he got over to third on a sac bunt. Belfiore got Gabriel Saade to groundout to third with the infield in for the second out. BC elected to intentionally walk the next two batters (Matt Williams and Nate Freiman) to bring up Tom Luciano who was brought in to pinch run in the ninth inning.
