LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – On Saturday at Gary Hogan Field, the HBU baseball team lost the first game of a double-header with the University of Arkansas-Little Rock by a score of 5-4 before bouncing back to win game two, 5-2.

Game one remained scoreless until the bottom half of the fourth. The Trojans got a leadoff double, followed by a groundout, a walk and a RBI groundout. With two outs and one man on, UALR got two more hits, drew three walks and HBU pitchers threw three wild pitches that allowed the Trojans to plate four more runs and take a 5-0 lead.

The Huskies answered in the top of the fifth as David Mark led things off with a single. With one out, Nick Homan hit his first home run of the season. The next batter, Zeke Zikeli, drew a walk and then moved up to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, with two outs, Leo Delgado hit his second home run in as many games to bring the score to 5-4. HBU would get no closer.

In the second game, a seven inning contest, Hunter Scott started on the mound and went the distance to earn the win. The junior struck out six and scattered eight hits.

HBU got on the board first, plating a single run on a Brian Franze home run. In the third, Johnathon Moore and Zikeli singled. With one out, Eric Schiro doubled to left center to score Moore and push the lead to two. Two batters later, Andrew Taccolini singled to left to drive in a pair and give HBU a 4-0 lead.

The Trojans answered in the third with a solo home run, pulling within three. Franze hit his second homer of the game to lead off the Husky fourth and bring the score to 5-1. UALR added one in the sixth but the scoring ended there.
