Fleury, who had three RBI in Friday’s series opener, opened the scoring for the Tar Heels (34-11, 15-7 ACC) with a two-run double in the first and added a two-RBI triple in the fifth for the big blow in a six-run inning for Carolina, which pounded out 16 hits by 10 players.

Dustin Ackley, who was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI, connected on his team-high 13th home run, and Seth Baldwin added a pinch-hit three-run shot to close the scoring in the eighth.
#21 Clemson 8 #8 Georgia Tech 5
Clemson, SC – Jeff Schaus went 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBIs and Casey Harman pitched 6.2 strong innings to lead #20 Clemson to an 8-5 victory over #4 Georgia Tech in front of 6,109 fans at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday night. The Tigers, who evened the series 1-1, improved to 29-15 overall and 13-10 in the ACC, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 28-10-1 overall and 14-6-1 in ACC play.
Harman (5-3) earned the win in a starting role for the Tigers. The sophomore lefthander allowed seven hits, two runs, and one walk with four strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched. Yellow Jacket starter Zach Von Tersch (6-2) suffered the loss, as he yielded four hits, six runs (five earned), and four walks with one strikeout in 3.2 innings pitched.
After Schaus’ flyout in the first inning that advanced a runner to third and set up a sacrifice fly by the next Tiger, he tallied a hit in each of his last four plate appearances. He hit a three-run homer in the third inning that gave the Tigers the lead for good and added three singles later in the game.
#10 Florida State 6 Wake Forest 4
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – It was a battle until the very last out on Saturday night as Florida State (29-12, 14-7 ACC) hung on for a 6-4 victory over Wake Forest (20-21, 6-16 ACC) on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles tied a season-high with their eighth straight win, while recording their third straight ACC series victory.
Florida State had some timely hitting on Saturday night as four of the six runs came on two outs. Stuart Tapley went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs in leading the Seminole offense in game two. Mike Meschke had a big two-out hit in the Seminoles’ three-run second as he unloaded on his first collegiate home run, a two-run shot to right center.
Brian Busch (3-2) worked 6.2 innings to pick-up his second straight decision. The freshman southpaw allowed four runs on six hits as he walked three and struck out a career-high six batters. He retired the first seven batters to start the game before giving up a solo home run in the third to Wake Forest catcher Ian Tomkins. Busch retired the side in the fifth and sixth innings before giving way to the Seminole bullpen with two outs in the seventh.
Virginia Tech 7 Miami (FL) 4
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Sophomore pitcher Justin Wright turned in a commanding, eight-inning, 10-strikeout performance on Saturday night, leading the Virginia Tech baseball team to 7-4 victory over 11th-ranked Miami at Alex Rodriguez Park.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Virginia Tech and improved the Hokies’ record to 25-16 overall and 10-12 in the ACC. It was Tech’s second win over the Hurricanes in the past two years – the Hokies upset then-No. 1 Miami last May – and it marked Tech’s third win over a top-20 team this season. The Hurricanes’ record dropped to 28-14 overall and 12-11 in league play.
The Hokies collected nine hits in the game, and seven of them came in one huge inning that ended up being the deciding factor. Tech pushed across six runs in the fourth inning to overcome the fact that they struck out a season-high 16 times as a team.
#16 Virginia 6 NC State 3
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 11 Virginia baseball team picked up its first series win over NC State since 2001 with a 6-3 victory over the Wolfpack Saturday afternoon at Davenport Field. UVa has taken the first two games of the series and goes for the sweep at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Virginia head coach Brian O’Connor won his 250th career game and became the third-fastest coach in ACC history to reach 250 wins. O’Connor reached the milestone in his 348th career game (250-97-1). Only Clemson’s Jack Leggett (338 total games) and Florida State’s Mike Martin (343) reached 250 victories faster while members of the ACC.
Virginia starting pitcher Andrew Carraway (Sr., Marietta, Ga.) fired 6.1 strong innings, allowing three runs (two earned), six hits and three walks. He struck out two and also picked off two baserunners. He earned the win and improved to 5-0 this season and 16-3 in his career.
Duke 9 Boston College 2
DURHAM, N.C. – Andrew Wolcott scattered two runs and seven hits over 7.0 innings to lead Duke to a 9-2 series-clinching win over Boston College Saturday afternoon at Jack Coombs Field.
Wolcott (6-3), who was switched back to his Saturday spot in the pitching rotation for the first time in three weeks, earned his fourth ACC win of the season. Wolcott threw 105 pitches in the outing and struck out four batters. He also stranded six base runners and retired the final seven batters he faced.
Wolcott got plenty of run support from the Duke (29-16, 12-11 ACC) offense, which put the leadoff runner on base in six of the eight innings they batted. Senior first baseman Nate Freiman led one of those frames off with his 14th home run of the season, which was also his second of the series and moved him into a tie for second place on Duke’s career home run list. Sophomore shortstop Jake Lemmerman also tagged a three-run shot as part of a five-run seventh inning.
