Here is your ACC Recap for April 24th.
#1 North Carolina 7 Maryland 4
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Kyle Seager and Mark Fleury homered and drove in three runs apiece to lead No. 1 North Carolina past Maryland, 7-4, in the opener of a three-game series Friday at Boshamer Stadium. All-America right-hander Alex White picked up the victory, as the Tar Heels (33-11, 14-7 ACC) won their fourth straight conference game.
Seager and Fleury finished with matching lines of 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. Seager hit a two-run homer in the first, while Fleury connected on a three-run shot in the third. Ryan Graepel also finished with two hits on the night.
White (7-1) lasted at least six innings for the ninth straight start, working 6 2/3 and allowing four runs on seven hits. He struck out five and walked three. White, who moved into a tie for fifth in school history with his 26th victory, gave up just one run over the first six innings before running into trouble in the seventh.
#8 Georgia Tech 5 #21 Clemson 4
CLEMSON, S.C. – Luke Murton’s two-run home run broke a 3-3 tie in the third inning, and the Georgia Tech pitching trio of Deck McGuire, Jake Davies and Zach Brewster held No. 20 Clemson to one run over the final eight innings to pull out a 5-4 win Friday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
The Tigers (28-15, 12-10 ACC) narrowed the lead to one run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, but Brewster forced a flyout from Ben Paulson to end the threat. The Tech lefty then struck out all three Clemson batters in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn the first save of his career while helping the Yellow Jackets (28-9-1, 14-5-1 ACC) to their 14th conference win of the season.
“Clemson has a lot of left-handed hitters, so we felt like Davies and Brewster would be very key for us this weekend,” head coach Danny Hall said. “Jake got us a lot of outs, and I felt like he’d done his job. When Schaus came up again, I didn’t want him to have to go through the order a second time so we brought in Brewster to change the look while still keeping a lefty in there. Both of those guys just did their job.”

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 11 Virginia baseball team opened its three-game ACC series with NC State with a 6-2 victory Friday night at Davenport Field. Despite tying a season low with five hits, the Cavaliers took advantage of nine Wolfpack errors, which led to all six UVa runs.
Virginia starter Danny Hultzen (Fr., Bethesda, Md.) earned the win after pitching 5.1 innings and giving up two runs (one earned), five hits and two walks while striking out nine. The freshman improved to 6-0 this season. Tyler Wilson (So., Midlothian, Va.) shut the door on a sixth-inning NC State rally and pitched the final 3.2 innings to earn his first career save.
