PLAYER AND ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Freshman Joe Sclafani (Palm City, Fla.) continued his torrid hitting this week, hitting .522 with four multi-hit games, two doubles, three triples, seven runs and eight RBIs in Dartmouth’s five games. The reigning Rookie of the Week began the week with a four-hit game, tying the school record with two triples in the game, and driving in four runs. The shortstop’s four hits and nine total bases in the contest are the most for a BIg Green player this season. Then against Brown, he had two three-hit games, belting a three-run triple during an eight-run sixth in the seven-inning 14-9 victory. Sclafani has also gone 45 plate appearances without striking out. In the field, he handled 24 chances flawlessly.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Senior Joe Scarlata (East Walpole, Mass.) pitched perhaps the best game of his career in the opener of Columbia’s series with Princeton, tossing a complete-game, four-hit shutout on the road against the Tigers. In an 8-0 Columbia victory, Scarlata scattered just four singles during the seven-inning contest. The co-captain did not walk a batter and struck out seven batters, a season-best, in his third straight win on the hill.
