wilhiteAs you may already know, former Cal-State Fullerton Titans catcher Jon Wilhite was critically injured in the crash that took the life of Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart, as well as Fullerton Student Courtney Stewart and Wilhite’s friend Henry Pearson of Manhattan Beach. Jon’s condition has improved enough to be moved to serious condition, and is still hospitalized at UCI Medical Center. The outpouring of support to the Wilhite family has been enormous. There has been a Trust Fund set up for Jon at Wells Fargo, the account # is 3980643658, and you can donate at any Wells Fargo branch.

If you’re in the Orange County area and want to help in a small way, please attend the game on Friday at 7pm at Goodwin Field when the Titans host the University of the Pacific. There will be Blue and Orange bracelets available at the game, with the words “Jon Wilhite – Titan Family Forever” on sale for $5. All proceeds will go to Jon’s family. If you wont be in the area, send me an email to mark@thecollegebaseballblog.com and I will get you in touch with the group selling the bracelets.

I also want to point your attention to Jon’s blog from last season. As a media relations intern during his senior year, Jon blogged for the Titans website and gave fans an inside look at the program.

Jon, who redshirted during the 2004 championship season at Fullerton, was a fan favorite during his time at with the Titans. His family released a statement yesterday, which was released on the Titans website:

“Thank you for the continued support of our son. To find out how he’s doing click on www.caringbridge.org/visit/jonwilhite and then towards the bottom click on Please Create Your Profile. After you create your profile you can see his page and if you’d like you can click on the box to receive email updates when we update how he’s doing.

“Also, we know when he’s feeling better he’d love to read your posts on his guestbook. Feel free to pass this on to anyone else that would be interested, thanks again for your support, our hearts our with Henry, Nick and Courtney’s families.”

Love, The Wilhites
