CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Winthrop junior Matt Thielepape (Austin, Texas) and UNC Asheville freshman Ryan Dull (Winston-Salem, N.C.) have been named the Choice Hotels Player of the Week and New Balance Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for games played April 6-12, it was announced today by the League office.

Thielepape continued his offensive explosion this past week by hitting an outstanding .684 (13-19) with four home runs and six RBI. He also had four doubles, nine runs scored, 29 total bases, a slugging percentage of 1.526 and an OBA of .714. He raised his batting average from .277 entering the week to .369. Thielepape started off the week on a positive note by hitting two homers in the doubleheader against No. 5 Georgia, and then added two more home runs in the doubleheader sweep against Presbyterian. He went 3-for-5 with two HR and two RBI against the Bulldogs and followed that with a 10-for-14 performance with two HR and four RBI in the three-game series against the Blue Hose.

Dull picked up his third Big South victory of the year as he threw his third-straight complete game against then League-leading Liberty on Saturday. He went the full nine innings and allowed two earned runs and scattered 10 hits. He walked one and struck out three Flames in winning, 9-2. All three of his complete games have come against Big South foes and he is 3-3 against Big South opponents this season.
