HANOVER, N.H. – In a showdown between the top two teams in the Rolfe Division standings of the Ivy League, Dartmouth posted a pair of 5-2 victories on Saturday afternoon over the visiting Brown Bears (12-14-1, 7-3 Ivy) to extend its winning streak to 12 games and remain unblemished in conference play. The Big Green (13-9, 10-0 Ivy) got a gutty pitching performance by junior Robert Young (Cleburne, Texas) in the opener of the four-game series, while junior Ben Murray (Grants Pass, Ore.) tossed an efficient eight innings in game two.
Dartmouth closer Ryan Smith (Greenlawn, N.Y.) earned saves in each game, recording the last two outs on strikes with two men on base in the first game, then retiring the side in order in the ninth of game two. The sophomore now has nine saves this year, breaking his own school record while setting a new career standard with 16.

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell baseball team picked up a split of a doubleheader against Penn on Saturday, taking the opener by a 12-5 margin before falling, 6-3, in the nightcap. The Big Red moves to 6-17 on the year and 3-7 in Ivy League play, while Penn moves to 11-17 overall and 1-9 in league action.
Mickey Brodsky led the offense for the Big Red on Saturday, going 4-for-7 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and five driven in. Scott Hardinger and Nathan Ford also continued their hot-hitting ways, with Hardinger going 4-for-8 with three runs scored and two RBI and Ford going 3-for-6 with a pair of runs and one RBI. On the mound for the Big Red, Corey Pappel was solid in relief in game two, working six scoreless innings, and allowing just three hits while fanning seven.
