Player of the Week
Ian Choy, Canisius
Junior, OF, 5-9/171, Mississauga, Ontario/Rick Hansen Secondary
Choy continued to stay hot for the Golden Griffins as the junior outfielder was 8-for-12 with two doubles, three home runs and five RBIs. He reached base in 12 of his 16 plate appearances while slugging 1.583 in four Canisius games. Choy entered the week with four home runs in his career, hitting three in the weekend series at Rider. Since March 16, Choy is 22-for-42, raising his average more than 200 points.
Pitcher of the Week
Michael Kellar, Niagara
Senior, LHP, 6-4/205, Colifax, Ill./Lakeland C.C.
Kellar tossed a complete game four hitter on Sunday to complete the conference series road sweep against Fairfield. The left-hander struck out a career-high nine batters while allowing just one run in a 7-1 victory. Kellar did not allow a hit until the bottom of the fifth inning to improve to 3-0 in MAAC play.
Rookie of the Week
Dan Paolini, Siena
Freshman, 2B, 6-0/180, Stratford, Conn./Bunnell
Paolini batted .450 with nine hits in 20 at bats in four games for the Saints. His marquee performance came in the Saints’ series final at Saint Peter’s when he hit for the cycle, scored five runs and drove in four. Paolini hit safely in all four games on the week and has now hit safely in 26 of 28 games this season. He also had three of his 13 multi-hit games on the season this past week, and he did not make an error in 17 chances at second base.
