PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior leftfielder Sean Baumann of Georgetown was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, while sophomore right handed pitcher Joe DiRocco of Seton Hall was honored as the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week.

Baumann hit a BIG EAST-leading .579 (11-for-19) in a 3-2 week for the Hoyas, which included a pair of conference wins against St. John’s. The senior hit .636 with two home runs in the three-game series against the Red Storm, including a stretch in which he reached base safely in eight consecutive plate appearances. Georgetown capped the series with a 6-4 win in front of 22,397 fans at Citi Field, the new home of the New York Mets.

DiRocco earned a complete-game shutout victory to help Seton Hall take two of three from BIG EAST favorite Louisville. The sophomore scattered six hits – all singles – and walked one while registering three strikeouts in the Pirates’ 6-0 win in Game 3 of the series. After working out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning, DiRocco didn’t allow a runner past first base in the last five innings.
