Kansas 4 #2 Texas 3

Junior Robby Price’s timing was impeccable. Hitless in his previous 12 at bats, Price snapped out with a one-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to lift Kansas to a 4-3 come-from-behind triumph over No. 2 Texas Saturday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark.

The Jayhawks, undefeated in their first nine games at home, improve to 12-7 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12. Kansas wins its first conference series of the season, and first over a Top 25 opponent since 2006. The Longhorns fall to 14-5 and 2-3 in Big 12 play.

Trailing 3-1 after Kevin Keyes’ three-run homer in the top of the sixth, the Jayhawks fought back to tie the game in the sixth and then scored the winning run in the seventh off the bat of Price.

Missouri 6 #6 Texas A&M 2

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Nine pitchers each turned in one inning of work for Missouri on Saturday, teaming up for a 6-2 win over No. 3 Texas A&M at Taylor Stadium. Senior Ian Berger pitched a 1-2-3 first inning and was credited with the victory, as MU took a 2-0 lead in the weekend series.

The Tigers have found the pitcher-by-committee plan successful in recent midweek games and employed the plan on Saturday against Texas A&M.

After Berger sat the Aggies down in order in the first, the Mizzou offense gave the pitching staff all the runs it would need by scoring five in the bottom of the first inning. Junior Michael Liberto led off the inning with a single and later scored when junior Greg Folgia reached safely on a fielders’ choice.

Senior Steve Gray then drove in one on a two-out single, which was followed by a two-run double from senior Kyle Mach. Missouri batted around in the first inning, collecting the five runs on four hits and two walks.

#15 Baylor 5 Texas Tech 4

WACO, Texas — Brooks Pinckard got Taylor Ashby to fly out to center, stranding runners at first and second in the top of the ninth as No. 9 Baylor held off Texas Tech 5-4 in Saturday night’s Big 12 Conference action at Baylor Ballpark. Baylor (14-4, 3-2) clinched the series with the win, its third straight overall and ninth straight at home. The Bears moved to 8-1 in one-run games this season, winning their seventh consecutive such game.

Baylor led 5-1 entering the final inning, but a one-out Willie Rueda walk started the rally for Texas Tech (8-14, 2-3). Michael Reed reached on a fielder’s choice that forced out Rueda at second; the ball was a potential double play, but Shaver Hansen lost the handle on the exchange and could not make a throw to first. Joey Kenworthy followed with a double, and Chris Richburg walked to load the bases.
