(Victoria, Texas) The Victoria Generals of the Texas Collegiate League have announced that a local pitcher and an outfielder from Uvalde will joining the team for the summers’ schedule.
Logan Hull, a junior at Texas Lutheran University and graduate of Memorial High School in Victoria has agreed to pitch for the Generals in their inaugural season. At Texas Lutheran he entered the spring as the No. 1 starter. He is a former ASC West Preseason Pitcher of the Year (2008)
In 2008, Hull made nine starts and 10 appearances posting a record of 4-4. He started the season 4-1 with wins over Austin College, LeTourneau, Louisiana College and Concordia Texas…Logan went seven innings in wins over LeTourneau, Louisiana College and Concordia Texas and allowed just five earned runs combined in those contests. Hull struck out 39 for the season, but walked 23 and hit 13…Opponents hit just .266 against him…Tossed one complete game…Allowed nine doubles, one triple and three home runs.
Logan was a First Team All-District selection as a pitcher his senior year at Memorial.
“Despite battling a back injury in 2008, Logan has been a big part of our success since he arrived at TLU in 2007. He has a very live arm for a guy his size. When he has command of his 3 pitches, he can compete at any level of college baseball. I think he will be a great addition to the Generals’ pitching roster,” according to
Greg Burnett, Head Baseball Coach at Texas Lutheran University.
Generals Head Baseball Coach Chris Clemons is also pleased to include James Hipp to the outfield roster. Hipp is a Junior at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
He played two seasons at McLennan where Coach Clemons is the Assistant Coach. In 2007 and 2008 Hipp was second team NTJCAC All- Conference selection. He hit .339 with 42 RBIs in 2008 . In 2007 Hipp played in the Texas-New Mexico Junior College All-Star Game and he was named the best male athlete at McLennan in 2008.
“James Hipp comes to the park ready to play every day. It doesn’t matter if it is a game or practice, James is always ready to do anything for his team. He has a great approach to the game and is extremely intense.” said Garrett Quinn, Assistant at Liberty University.
Hipp is a graduate of Uvalde High School where he was a THSBCA All-Star as a senior; third team all-state as a junior and senior.
