EAST DIVISION

HITTERS OF THE WEEK

Bo Bell, OF, Jr., Mississippi College

Mississippi College junior outfielder Bo Bell (Gulfport, MS / Miss. Gulf Coast CC) went 4-for-9 with two home runs, one double and six RBIs to pace a conference-opening series win over LeTourneau. Bell also walked twice, stole a base and scored two runs.

CO-PITCHERS OF THE WEEK

Jack Craven, LHP, Sr., Mississippi College

Mississippi College senior left-hander Jack Craven ( Pearl, MS / Hinds CC) tossed a complete-game, two-hitter with 10 strikeouts to defeat LeTourneau in a conference game. Craven allowed just one run to cross in the seven-inning game and did not walk a batter.

John Scheuring, LHP, Sr., Ozarks

Ozarks senior left-hander John Scheuring ( Bryan, TX / BHS) went 2-0 with one save over four relief appearances and did not give up a run in 4 2/3 innings of work. Scheuring also struck out seven batters and scattered three hits against Clarke College and conference opponent East Texas Baptist.

WEST DIVISION

HITTER OF THE WEEK

Joseph Villegas, OF, Jr., Mary Hardin-Baylor

Mary Hardin-Baylor junior outfielder Joseph Villegas (Manchaca, TX / Hays HS) went 10-for-17 with two home runs, a triple and 10 RBIs over a 3-1 stretch that included a West Division series win over Sul Ross State. Villegas, who is hitting .523 on the season, had an eight-RBI game – tied for the single-game high in the league this season – in a win over Southwestern. He also stole three bases, walked once and did not strike out.

CO-PITCHERS OF THE WEEK

Jared Hopper, RHP, So., Mary Hardin-Baylor

Mary Hardin-Baylor sophomore right-hander Jared Hopper (Kingswood, TX / Northeast Christian HS) struck out a career-high 14 batters in a complete-game, nine-inning effort on the road against Sul Ross State. Hopper scattered five hits and allowed three earned runs to cross the plate in the West Division victory.

Brad Orosey, RHP, Fr., Texas Lutheran

Texas Lutheran freshman right-hander Brad Orosey (Houston, TX / Cypress Creek HS) picked up the complete-game win in a 2-1 game with West Division opponent Concordia Texas by striking out seven batters over seven innings with no walks. Orosey, who takes the division’s top weekly pitching award for the second time this season, scattered six hits and allowed just one extra-base hit (a double). The win gave TLU the series victory.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES:

HITTERS: Texas-Tyler INF Joe Towns went 6-for-9 with two doubles to fuel a 3-0 week. . . . Texas-Dallas 2B Chris Biguenet was 6-for-14 with a homer and five RBIs over three games. . . . Ozarks C Scott Dietz went 8-for-18 with five RBIs, including two that proved to be game winners. . . . McMurry OF Jake Mullin went 9-for-15 with three homers in a series win over Hardin-Simmons. . . . Schreiner 1B Oscar Ibieta went 8-for-15 with three doubles and a home run over four games. . . . Howard Payne DH Kyle Lloyd had a double, triple and a homer in a Saturday doubleheader against Schreiner. . . . Texas Lutheran OF Ryan Nokelby tripled and had a game-winning home run against Concordia Texas. . . . Hardin-Simmons’ Matt Roam and Regan Dixon each had three home runs for the Cowboys over four games.

PITCHERS: Texas-Dallas LHP Jonathan Reeder did not allow a run over 5 2/3 innings over relief work to extend his scoreless streak to 12 innings this season. . . . Texas-Tyler RHP Blake Booher got the win against Hendrix, allowing no earned runs over seven innings. . . . Howard Payne RHP Billy Ray Cruz defeated nationally-ranked Adrian, allowing just two runs over six innings. . . . Schreiner RHP Roger Ayala struck out eight batters over eight innings to beat Howard Payne. . . . McMurry RHP Cody Curry beat Hardin-Simmons, allowing four runs on six hits. . . . Hardin-Simmons RHP Kyle Barton struck out 12 batters over 5 .23 innings of relief work.
