The 5th-ranked University of Texas at Tyler Baseball team allowed just two hits in a 7-0 shutout of Hardin-Simmons on Tuesday night at Irwin Field.
UT Tyler (9-1) managed to cluster its hits on the night, scoring all seven runs in just two innings. The Patriots scored three runs off of Hardin-Simmons (4-5) in the first and four in the fourth.
Seniors Jared Hood (Marshall, Texas) and Jeremy Harding (Houston, Texas) led the way for UT Tyler by each going 2-for-3 in the game.
Harding finished the evening with 3 RBIs, one double and a run, while Hood had two runs, a RBI and a walk.
Senior Tommy Rozell (Chandler, Texas) was nothing short of dominant on the mound for the Patriots, as he allowed just one hit and one walk, while striking out 12 Cowboys over seven innings of work.
After closing out a 10 game homestead on Tuesday, the Patriots will now hit the road for 10 games. UT Tyler will begin the two week road trek with a three game series at McMurry on Friday. First pitch in Abilene is scheduled for 7 p.m.
