Ten of the eleven CAA teams were in action this weekend in non- conference games. Here’s a quick run down of each team.
-George Mason started the year 4-0 for just the third time in school history. The Patriots competed in the Courtyard by Marriott Baseball Classic in Spartanburg, S.C. Righty Kevin Crum (1-0 0.00) and second baseman Ryan Soares (.500-1-4) were named the all-tournament team.
-UNC Wilmington started the season off with a three game sweep of Maryland at home. Outfielder Grayson Evans (.417) had 7 RBI in the series.
-Georgia State took three of four from Cleveland State at home to start the season.
-Delaware split a four game series with Longwood. (CORRECTED)
-William & Mary won two of their three games, beating Iona and splitting with Buffalo.
-Old Dominion and VCU each split their four games this weekend.
-Reigning CAA champ James Madison and Towson went 1-3 this weekend.
-Hofstra was the only CAA team not to garner a win, getting swept by Florida State.
-Northeastern was the only CAA team not in action this weekend. The Huskies will open their season tomorrow at Eckerd college. Righty Jeff Thomson (5-4 5.45) will take the mound for NU. Eckerd hasn’t announced a starter.

The Delaware-Longwood information is inaccurate. They played a 4 game series. On Friday, the Blue Hens defeated the Lancers 10-7. On Saturday, 2/21 the teams played a double header. UD scored 10 runs in the top of the ninth to win going away 22-6. In the 7 inning nightcap, Longwood scored 5 in the first and never looked back, defeating the Blue Hens 9-3. On Sunday, the Lancers scored 7 in the bottom of the sixth to secure a 14-7 come from behind win and earn a series split.
Thanks for the correction…I have fixed it above.
