I ran across three fantastic articles about College Baseball today. I will occasionally check in with some great newspaper articles during the season. If you have a hint feel free to email me by clicking here.
The first article talks about Florida State second baseman Tommy Oravetz’s move to the new position. He saw action in 36 games last season as the designated hitter with five more starts at second base. Mark Martin has decided to move former second baseman Jason Stidham to shortstop to open a postion for Oravetz. The full article is available by clicking here.
The second article is about Georgia first baseman Rich Poythress who flirted with a move to third base this summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League and during fall ball. He saw reps at third but Georgia head coach Dave Perno decided against the move keeping the superstar at first base. The full article is available by clicking here.
The final and actually most interesting article comes from The Daily Telegram in Adrian Michigan which talks about Chris Boertje journey back to the mound. Boertje pitched in the 2007 season but missed all of last season as he was in Iraq as a member of the National Guard. He is back for the 2009 season and hopes to lead Siena Heights University to the NAIA World Series. The full article is available by clicking here.
