In the College Baseball Newspaper Poll, Ouachita began the season ranked ninth, but jumped four spots to No. 5. Tampa (3-0) jumped a spot to claim the top spot as UC San Diego (2-0) is second and Cal State Chico (3-1) third, while Emporia State (0-0) is fourth.
West Alabama (5-1) and North Alabama (7-2) are 12th and 13th, respectively, while Delta State (2-2) is 16th. South Arkansas (5-3) dropped six spots to 19th to round out the Gulf South Conference schools.
Ouachita returns to action 2:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13 at Rab Rodgers Field against Truman State. The Tigers follow that single game with a three-game series starting Saturday at home against Drury.
