The saying `you can’t coach experience’ is something on which the 2009 Tulane Green Wave baseball club is banking. This year’s squad is, in part, comprised of ten seniors and seven juniors. Those ten seniors are the most that head coach Rick Jones has ever managed during his tenure with Tulane.
“The optimism for this club is that we have so much experience,” Jones said. “It is certainly one of the most experienced teams we’ve had here and it’s a team that was in a [NCAA] Regional Final last year.”
“Experience is one thing you can’t readily replace and experience serves you well especially in a season that goes from February through June and all the ups and downs that go with that,” Jones said. “When you have players that have been through that numerous times, it has a major impact on how you handle the situations in a positive way.”
