Two of the NAIA’s pre-season favorites start their seasons this weekend.
#4 Biola hosts Simpson today.They will then make a trip to Hawaii, playing Hawaii Pacific Feb. 2-3, and Hawaii-Hilo Feb. 4.
#5 Embry-Riddle opens their season in Lakeland, FL, at Southeastern, on Feb. 3.
#10 LSU-Shreveport, already 3-0 on the season, have their home opener against LSU-Alexandria Jan. 30-31, and host Southern Arkansas on Feb. 4.
Other games of interest:
Point Loma Nazarene hosts Faulkner Jan. 30-31, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Feb. 3. They play a cross-town cross-divisional game at UC San Diego on Feb. 4.
Azusa Pacific hosts Patten on Jan. 29, Patten and Simpson on Jan. 30, and Dixie State Feb. 2-3.
Auburn-Montgomery hosts Tennessee Wesleyan Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
Cal Baptist hosts Purdue-North Central Jan. 29-31, and Redlands Feb. 4.

A significant upset at Biola on Thursday: They lost to Simpson 2-1. Joshua Weise pitched six shutout innings for Simpson, and Shane Battles batted in the winning run.
Azusa Pacific won big. They defeated Patten 24-1, 7-2, and 19-1, and Simpson 14-3. Ryan Delgado hit a total of six home runs.
LSU-Shreveport ran their record to 4-0 with a 15-1 win over LSU-Alexandria. They play two more today.

Cal Baptist defeated Purdue-North Central 29-2, 16-0, and 11-1. Taylor Siemens, who missed the 2008 season with Tommy John surgery, and Bryan Castro combined for the shutout. They are playing one more today.
And another upset: Northwood (FL) beat The Master’s twice, 8-3 and 12-2. They are playing one more today.
